Do not forget to tell us if you need help!In computer graphics systems, typically it is necessary to generate sets of parameters for geometric objects. To do this, the geometric objects need to be described by some kind of parametric description.
The most common parametric representations of geometric objects are parameterized by parameters, for example, Cartesian coordinates, or spherical coordinates. In general, parametric representations of a geometric object may comprise a set of parameters describing the geometric object. Typically, a parametric representation of a geometric object includes a plurality of parameters describing the geometric object. Often, the number of parameters in a parameterized representation of a geometric object is very large, making it impractical to store, transmit or manipulate a parametric representation of a geometric object.
To handle the problem of the large number of parameters in a parameterized representation of a geometric object, a projection scheme is typically used to generate a smaller set of parameters. For example, a parameterized representation of a geometric object may be projected into a parameter space comprising a lower number of parameters. The parameter space is typically projected into a two-dimensional parameter space by a process called dimensionality reduction.
The projection is often carried out using a projection or regression method. For example, a conventional projection method may use a multidimensional regression to derive a parameter space from a set of training images. The output of the projection method may comprise a set of parameter space coordinates that describe the geometric object, and a set of images that may be derived from the geometric object in the parameter space.
Projection methods typically may be applied to a set of training images, for example, which are generated by a user or an image generation system, for example, which may be part of a computer graphics system. The set of training images are then processed by the projection method, for example, to generate a set of parameters for the geometric object represented by the set of training images.
An example of a conventional projection method is shown in U.S. Pat. No. 5,724,743, to T. Feulner, entitled “Method and Apparatus for Representing Projection Operators on Images,” the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference. The patent describes an operation of the projection method on an image. The operation includes storing a plurality of training images, and defining a projection ac619d1d87
